PLEASANTON, CA — Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty will not seek reelection when his current four-year term ends in January 2021. Instead, the 62-year-old Livermore resident who represents District 1 will be taking life a little easier.

"He will have served for 24 years when he's done. It's a long time," said Haggerty's chief of staff Shawn Wilson. "He's looking forward to spending time with his family and not driving 300,000 miles a year."

In a tweet Thursday, Haggerty said, "It's been my privilege to serve #AlamedaCounty and the Bay Area Region over the last 23 years. It's been an incredible run. I can't adequately express in words my gratitude to all who have supported me through the years. Still so much to do in the next 18 mos!"
