Pleasanton Mayor Jerry Thorne responds to petition, protest in support of local tree purveyor

In the wake of a petition and a protest this week, Pleasanton officials say they will allow an inflatable Frosty the Snowman to stay on a popular Christmas tree lot in Pleasanton this year.

Letter to Patch from Pleasanton resident Chuck Bierdeman:

Hi everyone. Your enthusiasm and support for Frosty saved him from an early melting. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Karen and I appreciate your support and enjoyed working with you to save Frosty. Mayor Jerry Thorne sent me an email this evening and asked me to share it with all of you:

Dear Mr. Bierdeman,

Thank you very much for your warm message regarding a “frosty” situation (....) and we realize that the holidays call for a “melting” of our position. The City is looking the other way on Frosty during the holidays and will address the matter with Mr. Moore following the holidays. (In the meantime) ... we’ll do our best to bring him into compliance without impacting Frosty this holiday season.
