Meet Pleasanton Police Department’s New K9 Officer
The duo hit the streets of Pleasanton on October 30.

PLEASANTON, CA — The Pleasanton Police Department announced the newest addition to the department's canine program. Matsjo, which is pronounced Macho, is a 2-year-old Belgium Malinois. Matsjo is the nineteenth police dog to join the force since 1974.
Officer Tim Martens, a seasoned canine handler, is Matsjo’s handler. Police said Matsjo will live with Martens and his family for the duration of his service.
“One of the things I love about being a K-9 officer is being able to utilize my specialized knowledge and training to keep the community safe and support my fellow officers on patrol,” Martens said in a statement.
