Museum Launches Guided Cell Phone Tour of Downtown Pleasanton
Tour is a narrated walking tour of 25 sites.

The , working with Guide by Cell of San Francisco, now offers a narrated walking tour of 25 sites in downtown Pleasanton.
This program turns a cell phone into an interactive audio guide, and is in play in more than 400 locations worldwide. It is free except for the cost of cell phone minutes and is available any time of the day – not just when the museum or buildings are open.
Funding from the L.G. Skaggs and Mary Skaggs Foundation and an anonymous donor provided the funding to get the program off the ground.

Museum volunteer Dorothy Nesbitt spent a year in developing the script of the important features and stories of buildings in the immediate downtown.

Organizers have finished recording the text and are now live.
There are several ways to get access to this guide. One is to stop by the museum and pick up the Walking Tour Audio Guide, which gives you the phone number, instructions and a list of the various stops.
You may also go online to the museum’s website and download the information and print off your own copy.
Guides will also be available at several of the business along the way.
The Museum on Main is located at 603 Main Street in historic downtown. It is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1–4 p.m.
