PLEASANTON, CA — It was once the Sheraton Pleasanton, but it's been rebranded, revitalized and and on Thursday it reopened — as the AC Hotel Pleasanton.

The more than $20-million transformation at 5990 Stoneridge Mall Road took about 18 months to complete and features 171 "reimagined" guest rooms, communal spaces, and the debut of a new outdoor pool deck among the redesigned touches at the property.

The scaled down and more modern AC Hotels by Marriott brand falls under the umbrella of Marriott International, Inc. (which also owns the Sheraton brand). The new Pleasanton facility will be managed by Hersha Hospitality Management.

“We’re delighted to continue to grow AC Hotels’ California footprint and open our first hotel in Pleasanton, a destination bustling with culture,” said Toni Stoeckl, global brand leader, AC Hotels by Marriott, and vice president, Distinctive Select Brands, Marriott International.

According to the company, AC Hotel Pleasanton is not leaving anyone out. The hotel was designed with business travelers, vacation-goers, and the local community in mind, "as well as those searching for a seamless, intuitive experience in the heart of the Tri-Valley."

“Pleasanton is one of the most vibrant destinations in the Tri-Valley, continually experiencing rapid growth and revival,” said Naveen Kakarla, president and CEO of Hersha Hospitality Management.

The modern hotel features minimalist guest rooms and suites with hardwood floors, sleek furnishings, exposed closet systems, and modishly designed bathrooms — "providing guests with everything they need and nothing they don’t," according to the company.

There's a fitness studio with state-of-the-art equipment including Peloton indoor exercise bikes inside the hotel, and there are communal spaces offering cross-functional indoor and outdoor areas.

The property also features a 4,756-square-foot pool deck with cabanas. An open dining space offers food and beverages, and there's the "AC Lounge" that is a meeting space by day and social hub by night. Each evening, the Lounge offers specialty wines from the region, local craft beers and artisanal cocktails as well as tapas-style lite bites.
