Pleasanton's New Leaf Customers Provide Meals for 9,850 Hungry People
New Leaf Community Markets holds a holiday food drive each year to support the Alameda Food Bank.
Thanks to the generosity of Pleasanton New Leaf Community Market customers, 9,850 hungry people were provided meals by the Alameda Food Bank.
During the annual holiday food drive, held November 4 – December 31, New Leaf Community Markets’ customers donated $39,753 at the cash register to local food banks. New Leaf contributed some matching funds. $4,923 of the total was donated to Alameda Food Bank, providing 9,850 meals for families in need in Alameda County.
In addition, New Leaf and Smart Chicken® donated 695 pounds of nutritious Smart Chicken to the Alameda Food Bank. For every ten pounds of Smart Chicken purchased at New Leaf during the month of November, New Leaf donated one pound to the food bank.
