New Leaf Pleasanton Donates 727 Lbs of Smart Chicken(R) to Food Bank

New Leaf Community Market Pleasanton and its partner MBA Poultry, the producer of Smart Chicken® poultry, have donated 727 pounds of nutritious Smart Chicken to Alameda County Community Food Bank. This brings the total poultry donated by New Leaf to the food bank to over 1 ton, and a total of 25 tons to food banks in the communities it serves. For every ten pounds of Smart Chicken purchased at New Leaf Pleasanton in November 2015, one pound was donated to the food bank in January 2016.

In addition to the poultry donation, $732 in cash donations from customers collected at store cash registers during this year’s annual holiday food drive, will be given to the food bank. This donation will provide 1,464 meals for local families in need.

Food banks like ours are always in need of quality protein items like these, and especially during the holidays.
