Patch Contributor, Sandra Kay (AKA WriteousMom), Set for Book Signing

Columnist Sandra Kay, will be signing her book "eat, write & exercise" at the 1st Annual Local Author Festival this Saturday.

Sandra Kay, a regular contributor to the Pleasanton Patch, will be signing her book eat, write & exercise at the 1st Annual Local Author Festival sponsered by Rakestraw Books on Saturday, August 13th at 10:15.

eat, write & exercise is a collection of over thirty non-fiction  short stories, comics, and poetry. Uninhibited by the rules of sentence structure (hence the all-lower-case passage above), Sandra challenges her readers to look beyond the written word and delve into the content of her writing.

The book is filled with what Sandra describes as “creative non-fiction.”

“my definition of creative non-fiction is this: real life experiences transformed into entertaining stories,” she writes in her opening letter to readers.

Sandra plans to speak about what inspires her writing at the Rakestraw Books event.

"All of my creative non-fiction is first crafted on my blog. I have over 1,213 blog posts to date. As a loyal, interactive reader and fan of leonardstegmann.blogspot.com (America's first and best blogumnist), I also have posted over 1,213 comments," she said.  "Leonard introduced me to blogs. I will talk about how he, and they, changed my life. I am hoping to inspire anyone and everyone who has thought about jumping in the blogosphere."

In addition to the book, Sandra has released her first e-book installment, Coast Stories, in her of the Richest Poor Girl in Pleasanton series.

Coast Stories contains a collection of three short stories related to the historical on Main Street in downtown Pleasanton.  The stories are non-fiction and based on actual events Writeous Mom encounters. 

The Fake Tow Truck Car Stealing Operation tells of the comical events that happen after Sandra allows a tow truck operator to drive away with her broken Saturn, leaving her without paperwork or proof she owned the car at all.

In Suspicious Activity, Sandra finds herself with an empty gas tank and the Coast gas station miles away. Forced to “cheat on Coast,” Sandra learns that fate has its own way of chastising her betrayal by means of a defective debit card and comic relief. 

Speaking of Cars & Boys, is a humbling confessional about Sandra’s belated discovery of the gas pump latch that allows customer hands-free filling up.

Sandra Kay is a self-proclaimed “Wine Goddess” for .  She is a long-time Pleasanton resident with two children, a poet, a blogger, and enjoys working with mixed media art. She also writes the well-received "" and "" columns for Pleasanton Patch.
