Planning Commissioner Allen Launches Pleasanton City Council Bid
Longtime Pleasanton resident Nancy Allen is a planning commissioner who has served various local committees for more than a decade.

PLEASANTON, CA — Planning Commissioner Nancy Allen announced Sunday that she will be running for a Pleasanton City Council seat in the November general election.
Allen has lived in Pleasanton for 34 years, served the city Planning Commission for seven years and previously sat on the city's Bike, Pedestrian, and Trails Committee, and Economic Vitality Committee, as Pleasanton Weekly first reported. She has served various local task forces, boards and groups, including the East Pleasanton Specific Plan Task Force, Sierra Club, Local Homeowner Association and Tri-Valley Animal Rescue, according to her campaign website.
Allen said she seeks to: be a careful fiscal steward of taxpayer dollars; preserve the city's small-town downtown area; advocate for slow-growth policies; protect open space; and more.

In the interest of avoiding potential conflict of interest, Allen said she will not accept donations from political action committees and local developers, or serve on boards that could conflict with her role as council member, should she be elected.
Allen is a small business owner with a professional background in product development and business strategy. She has managed large budgets and worked with AT&T and Charles Schwab, according to her website.

Allen holds a masters degree in business administration from St. Mary's College and a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California, Davis.
