PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton could get a new downtown bar with live music until midnight and drive-thru Taco Bell at the Rose Pavilion Shopping Center. The Planning Commission approved both establishments at a Feb. 12 meeting, Pleasanton Weekly reported.

The full bar at 310 Main St. could accommodate up to 150 customers, sell light snacks and feature non-amplified music such as jazz or blues, and would be open from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. every day, according to the proposal. The bar would include performance and game room areas.

The city said it does not believe noise would significantly impact nearby areas and the 63-spot parking lot should be sufficient.

The bar was unanimously supported by the Pleasanton Downtown Association, according to the proposal.

"The proposed bar would enhance the vitality of the Downtown with a new late-night option for Downtown patrons in an appropriate location," the city wrote in a report to the commission.

The Taco Bell would be built at 4210 Rosewood Drive, according to the proposal. The city noted concerns about pedestrian safety and environmental impacts of a drive-thru, but recommended the commission pass plans anyway since drive-thrus were not banned in the shopping center or nearby areas.
