Pleasanton City Council Approves Work Plan For 2019-2020
Nearly 90 proposed objectives, ranging from new initiatives to ongoing projects, were brought forward for consideration.

PLEASANTON, CA - From the City of Pleasanton: The Pleasanton City Council unanimously approved its new two-year work plan for 2019-2020.
Every two years, the City Council reviews and adopts a work plan to determine which projects will be priority objectives for the Council and City staff toward allocating resources for the next two fiscal years. Work plan projects are identified by the Mayor and Council, City commissions and committees, City staff and community members. Nearly 90 proposed short-and long-term objectives, ranging from new initiatives to ongoing projects, were brought forward for consideration at the March 12 public workshop. A record number of nearly 250 residents attended the workshop to provide public comment and hear Council’s discussion on each of the proposed priorities.
The newly adopted two-year work plan priorities include restarting the planning of East Pleasanton, completion of the update of the Downtown Specific Plan, monitoring regional and State housing legislation, creating a framework to address redevelopment in the Stoneridge mall area, as well as regional transportation projects and traffic, bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements. The plan also addresses water sustainability, updating of the City’s climate action strategy, working with the Pleasanton Unified School District to address facility needs, expanded and improved public safety initiatives, and development of a comprehensive strategy to curb homelessness in partnership with the Tri-Valley region.

For the past 15 years, the Pleasanton City Council has adopted a two-year work plan. “The public process in developing the work plan allows for the community to engage in open dialogue with the Council and City staff in implementing our shared vision for Pleasanton” said Nelson Fialho, city manager. “Now that the Council has adopted its 2019-2020 Work Plan, there is a clear direction on what we will be working on to deliver these priorities. City staff will work to allocate resources to achieve these objectives through the City’s two-year operating budget and four-year capital improvement plan. These documents will be presented to the City Council for review and adoption in June, prior to the July 1 start of the fiscal year.”
