Pleasanton Firm Nominated for "Webby" Award for Life-Saving Phone App

A Pleasanton non-profit has been nominated for one of the Internet's top honors — a "Webby" award — for launching a mobile application that helps residents save lives, according to a spokeswoman.

The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences nominated the Pleasanton-based PulsePoint Foundation for the "Webby" Best Use of GPS or
Location Technology award for an app that helps people who are trained in CPR administer those skills when they are most needed, according to Kimberly French, a spokeswoman for the foundation.

Emergency responders throughout the Bay Area have touted the phone
app for its ability to save lives.

"PulsePoint is an innovative location-aware mobile application that empowers everyday citizens to provide life-saving assistance to the victims of Sudden Cardiac Arrest," said Richard Price, the foundation's president.

The "Webby" awards are presented by the IADAS, made up of one thousand leading Internet experts, business leaders, visionaries and creative celebrities.

Winners of the 16th Annual Webby Awards will be announced May 1 and honored at a ceremony on May 21 in New York City.
