Pleasanton Home Hit By Tow Truck, Deemed Uninhabitable

A tow truck crashed into a home on Delucchi Drive last Thursday, causing minor injuries and severe property damage.

PLEASANTON, CA — A Pleasanton resident sustained minor injuries and severe property damage when an out-of-control tow truck crashed into his property on Delucchi Drive, police said.

Police believe the crash was an accident that happened when a small excavator was being loaded.

On Thursday, April 20 at 9:51 a.m., Pleasanton officers responded to reports of a collision between a tow truck and a house on Delucchi Drive, PPD Sgt. Marty Billdt told Patch. Officers learned that a work crew was trying to load a small excavator similar to a Bobcat onto the bed of a tow truck. The weight of the excavator reportedly caused the front of the tow truck to raise up and shoot forward, which made it difficult for the driver to retain control.

The truck plowed forward and hit a parked car, fence, and nearby house. A man was inside, and received minor injuries, Billdt said. A city building inspector deemed the home “unsuitable” to live in.

The police department is investigating the incident, but has determined that drugs and alcohol were not a factor.
