Pleasanton To Install Well At Amador Valley Community Park
In March, the city will begin installing a groundwater monitoring well. The public will still be able to use the park.

PLEASANTON, CA — The City of Pleasanton will install a groundwater monitoring well during the month of March at Amador Valley Community Park, the city announced in a news release.
The monitoring well, which will be located between the Dolores Bengston Aquatic Center and Gingerbread Preschool, will allow for the collection of groundwater data, including water quality and groundwater levels as the city tries to determine whether or not the location works as a potential city water supply site.
Installation activities will include the use of heavy equipment for drilling, but the public will continue to have access to the park and its facilities outside of the work site.

Approximately 80% of Pleasanton’s water are sourced from the Zone 7 Water Agency, while the remaining 20% is sourced directly by the City’s three local groundwater wells, the city said. In September 2020, the City Council approved establishment of the PFAS Treatment and Wells Rehabilitation Project, which aims to implement a treatment system for the city’s groundwater supply to reduce per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, and rehabilitate or replace existing groundwater well facilities.
