Pleasanton Library New Texting Service for Cardholders

All cardholders can receive notifications on their accounts regarding status on book holds, overdue fees, and library-wide announcements.

From The City of Pleasanton: The Pleasanton Library is now offering a text messaging system for all Pleasanton Library cardholders, the newest in a series of innovative services to help all users make the most of their library experience. The text messaging system is made possible by the company Shoutbomb LLC.

Library cardholders can register for text notifications by texting SIGNUP+librarycardnumber+PIN to 833-403-0519, the library’s dedicated text line. The plus signs must be included with no spaces. There is a slight delay of 30-60 seconds. After successful registration, cardholders will receive text notifications for their library account activity including holds, overdues, fees, and library-wide announcements. They can also send text messages to link additional cards to their phone, renew checkouts, and cancel holds. Cardholders may opt-out of any notification or cancel their registration in the system at any time. Shoutbomb represents a trend in public libraries toward more personalized services that help library users to get information quickly and in a friendly format. Shoutbomb welcomes patrons to the library by giving them additional options to stay up to date on fun library events, keep up to date their library items, manage multiple accounts and save time.
