Victim Killed In Livermore Train Crash ID'd As Pleasanton Man

Minseok​ Bu, 20, of Pleasanton died at the scene.

PLEASANTON, CA — A man who was killed Monday after his white sedan collided with an Altamont Corridor Express train in Livermore has been identified as 20-year-old Minseok Bu of Pleasanton, Sgt. Ray Kelly of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office confirmed. The crash took place shortly before 8 a.m. near Junction Avenue at Old First Street.

Bu was the only person in the vehicle and he died at the scene. Although the crash remains under investigation, Livermore police say the incident appears to be an accident.

The railroad crossing arms, lights and sounds were activated when Bu "went around the crossing guardrails and attempted to cross the tracks," said Sgt. Steve Goard of the Livermore Police Department.

The car's rear end was hit by the train, causing the vehicle's driver's side to slam into a nearby power pole, according to Goard.

There were no reports of injuries to train passengers. Service on the involved train was delayed for 88 minutes until customers could be transferred.
