Pleasanton Official Facebook Page Compromised: City

Users are advised to be cautious of anything they see on the site as of Thursday afternoon.

PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton’s official Facebook page has been compromised, the city said in a news release. As of 4 p.m. Thursday, some users are currently able to access the page, while others are not, city spokesperson Heather Tiernan told Patch.

No unusual posts have appeared as of 4 p.m., but previous posts appear to have been deleted, Tiernan said. Patch is able to access a page that posts a Las Vegas address as the city address, and has not had any posts since September 2018.

City staff are actively working to secure the page. In the meantime, users are advised to be cautious about the content they read on the page, and refrain from responding to any messages sent from the page.

Updates can be found through the city’s Twitter page, and cityofpleasantonca.gov.
