Pleasanton Police Arrest Auto Parts Theft Suspect

Police tracked him to his home after a suspect vehicle was abandoned at the scene of the crime.

PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton Police arrested a Tracy man on suspicion of auto parts theft after security personnel at Car Max reported a suspicious man prowling on the property. The suspect was spotted on a security camera system.

Police received the call around 12:30 a.m. Friday. They responded and established a perimeter, and then searched within the perimeter. They found an unoccupied van with no license plates and five sets of taillights for newer model Ford Mustangs inside the van. Several Ford Mustangs for sale on the lot were missing their taillights.

A Livermore Police canine unit joined the search, but no suspect was found.

Police combed through the van and turned up information that led police to the suspect’s residence in Tracy. With the help of Tracy Police, the suspect was located and arrested. He's been identified as 30 year-old Pardais Azad.

Azad was booked into Santa Rita Jail on charges of Grand theft.
