Pleasanton Police Department Welcomes New Officer

PLEASANTON, CA: The City of Pleasanton and the Pleasanton Police Department are excited to welcome Ricky Barcelo as Pleasanton’s newest Police Officer. Officer Barcelo was sworn in on Wednesday, February 03, 2016 and will begin his service to the Pleasanton community. He was hired after competing in a very challenging selection process, which revealed a stellar work history and excellent communication skills.

Officer Barcelo was born and raised in Merced, California and graduated from Golden Valley High School. He is currently pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice from Merced College. Officer Barcelo comes to the Pleasanton Police Department as a lateral transfer from Merced County where he worked as a Deputy Sheriff since 2013. He fills a position vacated by a service retirement during the past year.

He will undergo an approximate sixteen-week field training process before being assigned to patrol Pleasanton as a solo officer.
