Pleasanton Police Find $200K Of Pot Growing In Pleasanton Home

Pleasanton officers also stopped a vehicle with a loaded gun, meth, cocaine, and ecstasy.

PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton police officers seized hundreds of thousands worth of illegal drugs in two separate operations.

On the first recent occasion, officers encountered a driver who had a suspended license and an open package of cannabis (open alcohol or cannabis in a car is considered an infraction under California law, which results in a maximum $100 fine.)

Upon closer inspection, officers say they found much more serious violations in the car: a loaded gun, and a variety of illegal drugs including meth, cocaine and ecstasy. Police booked the individual at Santa Rita Jail. They have not released a name or description of the offender.

On a separate occasion, officers were asked to check on a private home due to “suspicious activity.” Upon arrival, they discovered hundreds of cannabis plants they say were valued at more than $200,000. California law allows individuals over 21 are allowed to grow up to six cannabis plants at home as long as they are locked in a secure location and out of public view.

Police said a team of employees spent several hours coordinating the investigation and seizing the plants for destruction. Police did not include a suspect description for this incident.
