PLEASANTON, CA — A Pleasanton school is one of dozens in the Bay Area that have been awarded a grant to fund programs ranging from language classes to Chromebook laptops that will be used inside classrooms. Brandon Crawford, a Foothill High graduate and shortstop for the San Francisco Giants, helped present the combined $100,000 in grants to 32 Bay Area schools.

Vintage Hills Elementary School in Pleasanton will use its $5,000 grant to assist in day-to-day classroom needs and enhance students' overall academic experience.

The grants, presented on Dec. 12 to students and teachers, were given out as part of the Wells Fargo KNBR Step Up to the Plate program, which has granted more than $1.3 million over the last 18 years.
