Pleasanton Shooting Near I-580 Injures Two

Police in Pleasanton received several calls from residents who heard gunshots from a shooting that injured two people on Saturday night.

PLEASANTON, CA — Three people were driving westbound on Stoneridge Drive in Pleasanton when someone from another vehicle began shooting at them on Saturday night. The incident left two injured and their vehicle peppered with bullet holes, according to the Pleasanton Police Department.

Around 11:08 p.m. nearby residents began calling Pleasanton police to report sounds of gunfire in the area of Stoneridge Drive and Gibraltar Drive. California Highway Patrol officers located the victims where they had pulled over on Hacienda Drive. The victims told the officers they had been shot and needed medical attention.

The two victims suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds, police said.

"This is believed to be a targeted shooting and not a random act of violence," Lt. Brandon Stocking wrote in a news release on Sunday.

The three people in the vehicle reported that they had just exited the I-580 freeway and were driving westbound on Stoneridge Drive when the shooting began. The victims are an 18-year-old male from Oakland and an 18-year-old female from Richmond.

Their identities were kept confidential, according to police.

The suspect was still at large on Sunday and police urged anyone with information about the case to call the Pleasanton Police Department at 925-931-5100.
