Pleasanton Supermoon: Photo Of The Day

Is that the moon, or the sun? Either way, it's incredible.

PLEASANTON, CA — The meaning of the expression "once in a blue moon" becomes clearer when you actually witness one: the moon isn't usually this magnificent. Mike Bettencourt shared this photo of the bright orange Blue Moon that graced skies Aug. 30-31, the second supermoon that month.

And if you missed that one, don't worry. The night of Sept. 29 will bring the last of the year's four supermoons, known as the Harvest Moon due to its proximity to the fall equinox.
