Pleasanton Volunteers Sought To Run Errands For Neighbors
The Support Angels are looking for locals willing to be paired up with a senior or at-risk person who needs help shopping.
Who We Are
A volunteer group of your neighbors in the Pleasanton community with families and jobs just like you. To our neighbors in need, we’re also known as Support Angels. Our group was formed in early March in response to the Alameda county shelter in place announcement. To date we are actively helping approximately thirty-five at risk neighbors.
We are now looking to help more of our neighbors in need through the extended restrictive climate of the COVID-19 pandemic.

What We Do And Why
Ideally, the Support Angel will combine shopping and/or errands (e.g. local supermarket, pharmacy, post office visits) with their own, to minimize everyone’s exposure in the community, and maximize compliance with the county’s extended shelter in place order. Most importantly, our primary focus is especially on those neighbors without family, friends or other support structure locally to help carry out such essential tasks.

How We Do It
The Stay Safe recipient requests help via our Pleasanton’s Nextdoor group page or our COVID-19 Senior Support Group website, or by calling 925-P-ANGELS (726-4357).
The recipient is then paired with a registered Support Angel who lives in their immediate neighborhood. The Support Angel will contact the Stay Safe recipient by phone or text, determine their needs, and begin helping their neighbor.
The Stay Safe Recipient preferably places prepaid grocery orders online, and/or pharmacy orders by phone. If unable to pre-pay, the recipient may reimburse the Support Angel by various epay options (Zelle, PayPal, ApplePay, Venmo), or if both agree check or cash are also options.
The Support Angel picks up or completes the shopping, and delivers the items to the recipient’s home.
