Pleasanton Welcomes 81 New Parking Spaces, Renovated Park Downtown
The new section offers electric charging stations, art, a bike repair station, drought-tolerant landscaping, and more.
PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton leaders welcomed an expansion of the Alameda County Transportation Corridor Wednesday, which means new parking spaces and a renovated Civic Park.
The expansion of the transportation corridor to Abbie Street added an additional 81 parking spaces downtown.
In 2008, the city purchased the area between Bernal Avenue and Stanley Boulevard with a goal of establishing more downtown parking. In 2017, the Pleasanton City Council approved the Downtown Pleasanton Parking Strategy and Implementation Plan, which aimed to add further parking by expanding the corridor to Abbie Street. More parking is expected to be added over time.

The expanded corridor also features a recreational pathway for pedestrians and cyclists with a bike repair station and bike rack, new LED lighting, new landscaping, community art, and a renovation of Civic Park in line with the Downtown Parks and Trails Master Plan.
The parking lot offers a number of environmentally sustainable features, including three electric vehicle charging stations, and pavement base materials made out of 100 percent recycled material.

“We are excited to continue the City’s investment in our downtown by expanding available parking and by enhancing Civic Park at the south end of Main Street for community activities,” Pleasanton Mayor Karla Brown said in a statement.
