Pleasanton Woman Allegedly Involved in Drunken Driving Crash Weeks Before Fatal DUI Collision on I-680, Report Says

Yarenit Liliana Malihan, 39, was arrested by CHP officers after the fatal Friday night crash.

PLEASANTON, CA — A Pleasanton woman accused of driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter was allegedly involved in another DUI-related collision in the East Bay just three weeks before the fateful Friday night crash on I-680 that killed a toddler and injured three more, according to a report by KPIX News.

KPIX reported that Yarenit Liliana Malihan, 39, was driving on a provisional license Friday night as the result of another alleged DUI-related crash on Aug. 23.

According to Alameda County Court records, Malihan faces three charges, including child cruelty and driving under the influence, for the August collision and arrest. Malihan, who is the wife of an Alameda County Sheriff’s deputy, was arrested by CHP officers after the fatal crash on Highway 680 near Bollinger Canyon Road Friday night.

A black 2007 Toyota Camry with three children and their mother inside was parked on the shoulder of the highway after they ran out of gas when Malihan's white 2008 Toyota Sequoia crashed into the back of it, CHP officials said. The collision claimed the life of 3-year-old Elijah Dunn and seriously injured his siblings and mother.
