A portion of Hacienda Drive was temporarily closed for several hours Wednesday night during the investigation.

PLEASANTON, CA — Police are investigating a fatal collision reported in Pleasanton Wednesday night, police said. The man was struck when he stepped off of a center median in front of a Chevy Bolt driving on Hacienda Boulevard just north of Interstate 580 at 8:40 p.m.

“The driver attempted to brake and swerve out of the way but struck the pedestrian with the front of her vehicle,” police said in a statement. “The driver stopped at the scene and called 911.”

The man was taken to the Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley where he died as a result of his injuries. The driver, a Pleasanton resident, cooperated with police, and officials do not believe alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash.
