Power Outages Affected Multiple Businesses and Caused Traffic Snarls

About 725 PG&E customers were without power. Stores turned customers away.

Two power outages in the area of Santa Rita Road and Valley Avenue kept businesses closed and residents without electricity this morning.

customers in need of groceries were turned away, according to store employees who gathered outside the darkened store.

Traffic was jammed at a busy intersection and there was a near miss as a car almost struck a father trying to cross with a child in the stroller.

According to the PG&E website, the cause of the outage is not known.

The site says the outage, which started just before 9:00 a.m., is being assessed.

A Patch staffer in the field reported that power the went back on at 10:15 a.m.
