Relay for Life – Tri-Valley Cities combine into one larger Relay

Relay for Life – Tri Valley has combined several relays into one larger relay to be held the weekend of June 23-24 at Dublin High School. This relay will celebrate cancer survivors and honor victims from Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon and Danville.

Several events make up the Relay for Life event. Already a Survivors Celebration event was held at Valley Care. Paint the Town Purple will feature purple ribbons tied around lamp posts in the participating cities to honor cancer survivors and victims.

At the Relay for Life event, survivors of Cancer are invited to walk the Opening Lap the opening ceremonies which begin at 9am on the Dublin High School track. The next lap features the Caregivers Lap. Teams are organized to raise funds for the fight against cancer and team members take turns walking around the track for a 24 hour period, signifying that the fight against cancer is a 24 hour fight and never ends. Cancer Survivors and anyone wishing to join in and walk a lap (or many) is invited to come at anytime during the day or night.

Entertainment, Booths, food and walking laps will continue throughout the day and night until Sunday morning.

Lighted Luminaria bags in honor of Cancer Survivors and in memory of those who have fallen to cancer will surround the track with a luminaria ceremony at 9pm.

Anyone who would like to order a luminaria bag in honor of a family member or friend, can go to http://www.relayforlife.org/TriValleyCa for a minimal donation of $10. The bag will be decorated and placed around the track. Come Saturday night to see the impressive lighted luminaria surrounding the entire track.

This is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society’s fight to eliminate cancer.
