No Arrests: Cops Discredit Bomb Threat Rumor At Pleasanton Middle

"There's no reason for alarm and we appreciate everyone's patience," said district spokesperson Patrick Gannon.

PLEASANTON, CA — Rumors among students of a possible bomb threat targeting Pleasanton Middle School Thursday were quickly debunked by police, according to Pleasanton Unified School District. Instruction continued as police investigated, but classroom doors were locked.

"There's no reason for alarm and we appreciate everyone's patience," said district spokesperson Patrick Gannon.

The school became aware of a rumor about a potential bomb threat that may have originated from a high school student around 2 p.m., Gannon said. He was not aware of any time or target associated with the rumored threat.

The school did not enter lockdown, but entered "secure school protocol," meaning doors were locked as instruction continued. Secure school protocol was lifted around 3 p.m., the time of dismissal.

"Thankfully we were able to discredit the rumor," Gannon said.
