Scholarship Created to Honor Life of Late Foothill High Student

Donations to the scholarship can be made to the Matthew Maniti Fund through the the Foothill Athletic Boosters.

A college scholarship has been created to pay homage to Foothill High senior Matthew Maniti. Maniti died on Aug. 30. Services for Maniti were held on Sept. 4 at the Holy Angels Funeral Home in Hayward.

The Matthew Maniti fund, created by the Foothill Athletic Boosters, will eventually award $1000 to Foothill High seniors. Brenda McFarlane, treasurer of the Foothill Athletic Boosters, said Maniti was a great kid.

“It has been a huge loss,” McFarlane said.

Maniti was on the Foothill wrestling team and was a member of the peer advocates on campus.

Donations to the scholarship fund can be mailed or dropped off at Fremont Bank, located at 6654 Koll Center Parkway #345, Pleasanton, CA 94566.

Donations are also being accepted to help offset the funeral costs for the Maniti family. Donations for the family can mailed to the Matthew Maniti Donation Fund c/o Foothill Athletic Boosters, 2843 Hopyard Rd #204, Pleasanton, CA 94588. Donations for the family or to the scholarship fund can be made payable to: Foothill Athletic Boosters.
