School Canceled Friday In Pleasanton

District officials said they consulted with the Bay Area Air Quality District before making the decision.

PLEASANTON, CA — School has been canceled Friday, Nov. 16 for students and staff in the Pleasanton Unified School District. The district notified students of the decision before they were dismissed from class Thursday afternoon.

Parents were notified of the decision by phone and email.

Dear PUSD families,
Thank you for your patience and flexibility, as we have navigated unprecedented air quality levels due to wildfires in Northern California. The safety and well-being of our students and staff continues to be our number one priority.
After consulting with county health agencies and the County Office of Education, we have determined it appropriate to close all PUSD schools and District facilities on Friday, November 16. This includes PUSD's STEAM Preschool, Kids Club and Horizon Early Education Center.
Again, Friday, November 16th will be a non-student and staff day for PUSD.
Thank you for your support and understanding throughout this difficult week.
Sincerely,
PUSD Leadership

Smoke from the Camp Fire in Butte County continues to cause unhealthy air quality in the Bay Area and the haze is expected to linger through Monday, air quality officials said. The hazardous smoke has created unhealthy conditions for much of the region over the past few days.
