SigAlert Issued In East Bay After Big Rig Overturns

The right lanes of northbound I-680 are blocked near Sunol after a big rig overturned, CHP said.

SUNOL, CA — The right two lanes of northbound I-680 are closed as of 4:40 p.m. Wednesday due to an overturned big rig trailer, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP issued a SigAlert at 3:37 p.m.

The truck's trailer overturned at 3:14 p.m. on northbound I-680 near Andrade Road, according to a CHP log. The trailer then hit a Toyota RAV4, sending it into the right-hand shoulder of the freeway. The truck was blocking two lanes of the freeway until a tow truck arrived.

"Expect delays for the afternoon commute. Unknown ETO," CHP Dublin said in a 4:05 p.m. Instagram post. According to 511.org, the SigAlert is still in effect as of 4:39 p.m. and causing heavy traffic on northbound I-680 between Sunol and Fremont.
