Solar Carport System to be Installed at Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area in Pleasanton
The system will generate offset electricity use and will provide shade for the parking lot.
PLEASANTON, CA — An installation ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area to celebrate a new solar carport system that will soon be installed at the popular park.
East Bay Regional Park District officials say the project includes solar panels that will generate 1.2 megawatts of energy annually, which is enough to offset electricity use for almost the entire Park District, along with three electric-car charging stations, a new recycled water line, and planting of native trees.
The panels will offer shade to the parking lot area, according to a statement released by park district officials.
