Special Kitty 'Monet' Is Asking Santa For A Home This Christmas

Adoption fees at Valley Humane Society in Pleasanton are waived on this sweet & cuddly kitty-cat with some special needs.

PLEASANTON, CA – "Monet," an affectionate, 7-year-old kitty that survived some tough years, is in need of a forever home and is up for adoption with fees waived at the Valley Humane Society in Pleasanton.

"Animals express their gratitude in many ways," facility officials said. "For Monet ... showing appreciation involves burying her head into someone’s chest and pressing in with the whole of her strength."

The orange tabby was found as a stray, wandering with her tail dragging behind her due to a large gash mid-tail. The injury was so severe total amputation was required, coupled with a finding of feline immunodeficiency virus, an immune disease which requires that she live indoors to prevent infecting other cats, the shelter said.

Her "senior" age has proved difficult for an adoption, but the biggest challenge to finding her a family is a slight incontinent-type issue, facility officials said.

"Whether due to nerve damage from her injury or a pre-existing condition, Monet leaves an occasional urine drip," they said. "Similar to a person who might experience a tiny leak when they sneeze, though, she is not truly considered incontinent. Monet holds her bladder and uses her litterbox as needed."

In short, the best potential home for this loving kitty-cat, destined to be someone's wonderful companion, would be one with hardwood or tile floors, instead of carpet.

Thanks to a Senior Pet Adoption Grant awarded by Petfinder Foundation, Monet’s
$100 adoption fee will be waived and also provides for an easily-cleaned, plastic Kuranda cat tower, a high-sided Modkat litterbox with washable liners and assistance with her prescription diet for approximately two years.
