Sunol Glen School Cleanup Scheduled For February
The volunteer cleanup will help the Sunol Glen elementary school, which suffered significant damage during storms.
PLEASANTON, CA — Tri-Valley residents are encouraged to help clean up the Sunol Glen School, which suffered bad damage during the recent storms.
The school has been recovering from storms since New Year’s Eve, when rain flooded most of the school’s back area. Several parts of the school were inundated, including three of the raised portable classrooms on the north side of campus, according to a GoFundMe page from the Sunol Glen Community Club that has raised over $24,000 for repairs.
Waterborne debris also collapsed the fence along the east edge of the grounds, and flood water pushed several huge storage containers onto the adjacent playground.

As waters receded, a thick layer of mud was caked onto the school blacktop, playground, garden and fields.
The volunteer clean-up will take place Feb. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves, rakes, shovels, a water bottle, and clothes or shoes that can get dirty.
