Suspect Drove Wrong Way on I-580 in Stolen Car, Police Say
Police said three juveniles were detained and one man was arrested following a short pursuit that was so dangerous it was terminated.

PLEASANTON, CA — Police arrested a 22-year-old Oakland man after he led officers on a brief chase in a stolen car, Pleasanton police officials said. An officer on patrol noticed the car, which was stolen from San Leandro, parked in the Walmart Neighborhood Market parking lot located at 3112 Santa Rita Road late Tuesday morning.
The officer saw four suspects get into the car and drive away, heading northbound on Santa Rita Road. When the officer tried to stop the car, the driver, who allegedly failed to stop, sped away and drove across the center median near Pimlico Drive and headed west on eastbound I-580 against traffic.
In the interest of public safety, police terminated the pursuit. The driver, who drove about a quarter-mile in the wrong direction on the busy freeway, abruptly stopped on the shoulder, and all four suspects fled on foot, running toward Rosewood Lane.
