Sweet and Savory - Hidden Gem in an Office Park

The diverse, home-style menu has something for everyone.

This was my first time at in Pleasanton and I am so happy I took the suggestion to try it from a longtime friend and colleague Mick Lamb!

I was blown away to find this hidden gem within the Hacienda Business Park.

The menu has something for everyone — it offers everything from breakfast items like quiche to breakfast burritos to everyone’s favorite, a quesadilla and fried-egg sandwich.

For lunch, you can get anything from soups and salads to pizza and burritos. Also, you can get a ton of different breads, cookies or dessert bars. The pecan and lemon bars looked amazing.

This being my first time, I decided to go before noon to beat the rush.

The service was very friendly and several members of the staff made suggestions. I decided on the pesto chicken sandwich — a cold chicken breast with pesto, roasted red peppers, Provolone cheese and greens on a roll for $ 7.25. My mom got the chicken salad sandwich with tomatoes and lettuce for $ 6.50. We then decided to split an order of fries for $ 2.25.

We sat down and got a place near the middle of the café to check out all of the action. The place was abuzz with ladies who lunch, people from the local business parks and workers from the courthouse down the road. The place quickly got mobbed with people as it drew closer to lunchtime.

Our food arrived and we were presently surprised by how fast it came and how fresh and enticing everything looked. The pesto on my sandwich was divine and the chicken salad my mom had was full of chicken — not just celery and mayonnaise. The fries were salty and fried to a delicious crunch.

We also liked that portions were large and the bread-to-topping ratio was perfect.

Our only complaint was that the food seems a little bit pricy; lunch averages around $8-12 per person with a drink.  During our lunch, my mom and I were admiring the baked goods and on our way out and decided to buy a pumpkin pecan cranberry loaf for $10. We had it later in the afternoon toasted with some butter — simply a great summer treat.

Overall, I would love to return to try the salad, potatoes, pizza and soups.

This is perfect place for a quick healthy meal that is yummy and full of flavor.

But keep in mind that since this place is a breakfast and lunch spot, it opens at 6:30 a.m. and closes at 3:30 p.m. So get there early for your favorites.
