Sweet Tomatoes- Fresh and Healthy

It seems like I frequent in the summer because of the fresh food choices and wide variety of guilt-free or healthy options.

But in fall and winter months, it good as well for the hearty soups and breads.

Sweet Tomatoes is always changing their menu and having theme months or weeks. So it's a great way to sample the fresh fruits and veggies of the season.

But the best thing about Sweet Tomatoes is that the food is made from scratch and always fresh.

The salad bar buffet features more than 50 fresh ingredients, including tossed or mixed and prepared salads. In addition to salads, they serve hot pastas, fresh soups, scratch-made muffins, and Focaccia breads in the yummy hot buffet.

During my visit on July 16, it happened to be "lemon weekend." This meant a lot of dishes on the buffet had lemon in them I am not a huge lemon fan but the following dishes were fabulous: summer lemon tossed salad with a lemony dressing, lemon chicken orzo soup, and for dessert, a sugar-free lemon mousse.

Besides the lemony delights, they had my regular favorites like the Chinese chicken salad and cold pasta, along with the chili and the pizza bread. For dessert, I like the brownie muffin and the Tapioca Pudding, which is low-fat but full of flavor.

The Sunday brunch from 9 a.m. to noon is also good, featuring  scrambled eggs, waffles, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal, Potatoes O’Brien, freshly baked cinnamon chip biscuits, muffins and make-your-own breakfast burritos, according to the website.

All this is in addition to the salad and soup bars. 

Overall, this is a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner and you can feed your family for less than $10 a person.

It is great that there is an affordable healthy buffet that has something for everyone and is yummy and guilt-free.
