Teacher Negotiations on School Board Agenda
Tuesday night's meeting includes a report, discussion and possible action on initial bargaining proposals by the district and the teachers union.
The school district and the Pleasanton teacher's union will present their initial bargaining proposals during tonight's school board meeting, kicking off formal negotiations between the two groups.
The Association of Pleasanton Teachers agreed to $4.6 million in concessions last year through furloughs, increased teacher-to-student ratios on some grade levels and cutting a seventh periods during the school day. This year, the group is interested in looking into health and welfare benefits, job share limits, the calendar schedule and salaries.
Meanwhile, the Pleasanton Unified School District, which is currently looking at $7.7 million in cuts for the 2011-2012 school year, delves into hours of employment, class size and salaries.
