Teen Suspected Of DUI Drugs Arrested Following Major Injury Wreck

BREAKING: The collision sent four people to the hospital and closed the busy Pleasanton intersection for hours.

PLEASANTON, CA — A teenager was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs causing bodily injury following a Pleasanton crash that sent four people to the hospital Thursday night, police officials said. The collision involving three cars was reported in the intersection of Foothill Road and Laurel Creek Drive just before 7 p.m. The wreck closed the busy intersection for hours Thursday night.

“A blue Nissan Altima entered the intersection and collided with a grey Chevy Sonic, both of which sustained major damage,” police said in a statement. “A red Toyota Rav 4 was also involved in this collision which had moderate damage.

“The initial investigation indicates the Nissan was traveling eastbound on Laurel Creek Drive when it ran the red light at Foothill Road. The driver of the Chevy was traveling south on Foothill Road and the driver of the Toyota was traveling north on Foothill Road when the vehicles collided.”

According to police, the driver and passenger of the Nissan and driver of the Chevy were taken to Eden Medical Center with major injuries. The driver of the Toyota was taken to nearby ValleyCare Medical Center for treatment.

Police said the driver and passenger in the Nissan are listed in serious condition, and the driver of the Chevy is listed in critical condition. Police said Oakland resident Elijah Henry, 18, the driver of the Nissan, was driving under the influence of marijuana, and he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs causing bodily injury.
