Dear Sunol Glen Families,
It is with deep and sincere conviction that I extend my gratitude for all of the planning, hard work and efforts that went into making our February 4th, Sunol Glen Flood Recovery Clean-Up day even such an extraordinary success! We had over 325 volunteers show up to help in the clean up efforts on Saturday! A HUGE shout-out to so many people –-but I especially want to thank Lowell Hoxie - who oversaw the entire event, Cheryl Thompson, Sirena Lueker-Boden, Mark Barnes and Chrissy Ogimachi for their leadership in preparing for the Clean-Up Day. Additionally, we had our entire School Board (and their families!), Ryan Jergensen, Ted Romo and Linda Hurley, 13 staff members and A LOT of our students participate in the event–– which was awesome! What a great way for our students to show school pride and to participate in this community event!
I also want to thank Supervisor David Haubert for sponsoring the Day and donating funds to provide breakfast and lunch; Mike Miller, from Boscos, as he donated coffee and burgers. And James Lowder for BBQing and donating tri-tip and chicken. Chrissy Ogimachi and Jennifer Laurence led the Kitchen Crew and put together a phenomenal breakfast and lunch! The brownies were like hunks ‘o heaven and big bricks of chocolate! YUM!
We also had a number of agencies assist during the day including, the Dublin Rotary Club, Dublin Mayer Melissa Hernandez, Assemblymember Lee and staff, Congressman Swalwells’ staff, Supervisor Haubert’s staff, Del Conte Landscaping and Vision Recycling, Can-AM Plumbing, the Buddhist Temple members from Fremont and other folks that saw the announcement and showed up to help!
Truly amazing – the before and after photos tell the story of A LOT of hard work and effort! I am just, well, not speechless – but close! I feel incredibly humbled and overwhelmed by how our community came together and by the amount of support we received.
Kindest regards,
Molly
