The Cheese Steak Shop a Very Delicious Habit

My Philly friends said this is like a "real" cheesesteak shop.

I have never been to Philadelphia but have friends who were born and raised there.

So we all went to The Cheese Steak Shop in Pleasanton for lunch this week.

They were blown away — they said it is just like a “Real Philly" cheesesteak shop. I have been there plenty of times without my Philly friends and loved it, but now knowing that it is traditional, I love it even more.

Their ingredients are special-ordered — the Amoroso rolls, hot and sweet peppers and Tastykakes are shipped directly from Philadelphia.

They also pay special attention to quality, and that sets them apart from all the other fast-casual restaurants in the area.

They inspect all their ingredients and put them through a long quality-approval process, so you know you are getting a top-notch sandwich.

The staff is efficient, courteous, and always strives to exceed their customers’ expectations. But the food is what keeps me coming back for more.

They're also careful to ask you whether you want your sandwich "wit or witout" white American or Provolone cheese, hot or sweet peppers, or chicken or veggie.

As far as Food goes, I have many favorites. I love the traditional cheesesteak with sweet peppers and cheese ($4.49 for a 7-inch, $6.39 for a 10-inch and $10.59 for a 15-inch). I also love the pizzasteak too, which is just steak or chicken with the regular fixings plus pizza sauce and more provolone cheese ($4.59 for a 7-inch, $ 6.49 for a-10 inch and $10.69 for a 15-inch.)

When I am feeling like a chicken nugget meal, I simply indulge in five pieces or seven pieces for ($4.69 or 6.59) — so yummy! I also get a side of corn fritters ($2.59 or $3.99).

The sides are great too. I love the Twister fries, which are curly fries — they're super spicy and great with Ranch dressing ($1.79 or $2.59).

The steak fries are great as well — they are salty and piping hot ($1.79 or $ 2.59). Onions rings are also a big hit and tasty as well ($2.59 or $3.99).

You can also get an all-veggie sandwich, or salads if you are trying to be healthier or if you are someone with special dietary needs. When I want a guilt-free option, I opt for the chicken instead of beef. This sub is available for any sandwich or salad.

All and all, this place is not overly fancy. But it definitely allows you to indulge your inner junk-food lover.

There are also locations in Castro Valley, Concord, Livermore, San Ramon, San Leandro and Walnut Creek.
