Tri-Valley Lacrosse-Coaching Icon Is Inductee In National Hall Of Fame
"Put simply, Peter (Worstell) is synonymous with lacrosse in the San Ramon Valley & across the country," San Ramon Valley H.S. staff said.

DANVILLE, CA — Peter Worstell, a longtime lacrosse coach at San Ramon Valley High School and with teams throughout the Tri-Valley and nationwide, will be inducted next month into the 2023 National Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association's Hall of Fame.
This latest induction marks yet another tribute for Worstell, who launched the boys lacrosse team in 2002 at SRVHS —a team he coached through 2017. He also was a co-founder of Diablo Scorpions youth lacrosse league and two, nationally recognized, elite lacrosse camps, "Be the Best" and "California Gold."
"Put simply, Peter is synonymous with lacrosse in the San Ramon Valley and across the country," SRVHS officials said when he was inducted in 2017 to the SRVHS Hall of Fame.

"Coach Worstell inspired his students to achieve their goals and modeled what it means to be a pillar in the community," said John Malloy, San Ramon Valley Unified School Districtsuperintendent. "Not only was he honored in 2017 when he was inducted into the SRVHS Hall of Fame, he was also inducted into the Northern California Lacrosse Hall of Fame and to Halls of Fame across the country prior to that.
"He is an incredible example of how sports is an integral part of our students finding success in high school and beyond."

Worstell will receive this latest award at a Nov. 11 dinner in New York, along with 10 other high school coaches from throughout the U.S.
Founded in 1968, the National Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association (NILCA) supports high school lacrosse coaches nationwide, offering educational clinics, conventions, record keeping and annual awards.
"We are extremely proud to announce the 2023 NILCA Hall of Fame Class," NILCA vice president Joe Baccarella said. "Each of these men has established himself among the best ever to have coached the game of lacrosse, and we look forward to recognizing their incredible accomplishments."
Recruited out of high school, Worstell attended the University of Maryland, where he was a lacrosse, four-time All American playing two different positions, midfield and attack.
Worstell's other Hall of Fame achievements include: Garden City High School Athletic HOF; Long Island Lacrosse HOF; University of Maryland Lacrosse HOF; Northern California Lacrosse HOF; and San Ramon Valley High School HOF.
"Coach Worstell is a great man and a tremendous coach," added Chris deClercq, SRVHS athletic director. "Nobody did it better than he did."
