Tri-Valley RADD teams excel and have fun at Special Olympics

The East Bay Basketball Tournament was held last weekend, on March 9th in Pleasanton using gyms at Harvest Park, Pleasanton and Hart Middle schools.

Thirty-five teams from throughout the East Bay participated in basketball and over 70 athletes were in the Skills contests totaling about 400 athletes of all ages.

Over 200 volunteers from Pleasanton and surrounding cities participated to make sure the games ran smoothly, and the athletes had fun participating.

Kay King, representing RADD said “What a wonderful and well run event was organized again this year! Our volunteer supporters were so fun and inspiring. Our T-RADD teams were so grateful for their support and the athletes LOVED having them cheer for their teams throughout the day!”.

Thanks to many volunteers from local service clubs, such as National Charity League, Boys Team Charity, Young Men’s Service League, students at Amador Valley, Foothill and other groups and clubs who gave service at the event.

The Amador Valley Athletic Boosters hosted the event for the 21st year, many thanks for their support.

Here are the highlights of the local T-RADD teams:

T-RADD A placed 3rd with a Bronze Medal

T-RADD B placed 2nd with a Silver Medal

T-RADD C placed 2nd earning a silver medal.

T-RADD SKILLS group competed in a series of 4 individual skills competitions and all earned either silver or gold.

After each competition, Tri-Valley REACH https://trivalleyreach.org, sponsors and hosts a celebration and recognition party for all the athletes where coaches recognize and congratulate athletes on their accomplishments, thank family members for their support in getting these athletes to and from practices and competition and lastly, giving an opportunity for athletes to share their thoughts, etc.
