Women’s March Coming To Tri-Valley

Community members from Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin, San Ramon, and Danville will participate in the rally and march this month.

PLEASANTON, CA — The community is invited to participate in the 2019 Tri-Valley Women’s March. The event, which is organized by Tri-Valley Women’s March Action Group, Livermore Indivisible, Students for Social Change and OFA East Bay Central, will be held in Pleasanton on Jan. 19 and is one of hundreds planned across the nation.

“On January 19, people from around the country will unite to make their voices heard,” said Kathy Ellis, a spokesperson for the Tri-Valley Women’s March Action Group. “We’ve been organizing locally to advocate for the policies that matter to us, and impact women’s lives, and we’re flooding the streets in solidarity with our sisters in DC to remind the country that the Tri-Valley resists.”

The civic event commemorates the historic the 2017 Women’s March on Washington.

“The 2017 Women’s March galvanized this country and birthed a new wave of the women’s rights movement,” said Ellis. “That wave is taking to the streets, here in Pleasanton and nationwide, and we’re coming with an agenda.”

The event will start at 1 p.m. with a rally on the Amador High School football field followed by a march to downtown Pleasanton and back. A women’s expo will be held outside the school’s stadium afterward.
