Uplifting Random Act of Kindness: See Man Stop To Help Elderly Woman With Precious Ritual

"If you recognize him, please mention this and thank him for me," a Pleasanton man said.

Pleasanton, CA — It was the Fourth of July and we do not even know his name, but he did something so simple, yet so kind, that you cannot help but smile when you see what happens.

The fleeting moments were caught on camera in a home surveillance video, which was originally posted on the Pleasanton Rants and Raves Facebook page by founder Mathew Mobley. The video shows Mobley's elderly grandmother as she prepares to hang the American flag on her Pleasanton home in honor of her late husband, who was a World War II veteran.

Mobley said his grandfather would hang the flag religiously at sunrise when the country was at war and on special days. Just as religiously, he'd remove the flag at sunset.

"She is in her late 80s and thinks she can do anything," Mobley said. "So she got the flag and ladder out, which would have been disastrous for her."

According to Mobley, the man happened to drive by at the same moment she was about to climb the ladder. The driver saw what was happening and stopped. He reversed his car, got out and hung the flag for her. Mobley says he even put away the ladder before he left.
