Valley View Principal Resigns 2 Months Into First Year: Report

Principal Julie Plaisance resigned Friday for undisclosed reasons.

PLEASANTON, CA — Valley View Elementary School principal Julie Plaisance resigned last Friday for undisclosed reasons, Pleasanton Unified School District confirmed to Patch. Plaisance, who was hired in May, was the school’s third principal in the past three academic years.

Vice Principal Andrew Withers is serving as the interim principal until a new replacement is found, spokesperson Patrick Gannon shared with Patch. Plaisance started her tenure at the start of the 2022-23 academic year, replacing former principal Gerardo Guzman-Rico, according to a report in Pleasanton Weekly.

District spokesperson Patrick Gannon told PW that the district is not providing additional information on her choice to leave for privacy reasons.

Gannon told Patch that the following message was shared with families:

"We wanted to share that Julie Plaisance has resigned from her position as Valley View Principal effective immediately.

We are extremely grateful to Vice Principal Andrea Withers for her leadership as lead administrator at Valley View over the last several weeks and are pleased to have Mrs. Withers serving as Interim Principal effective today. We will continue to have Mrs. Cheryl Garrett to provide additional administrative support to Valley View Elementary until a permanent principal is identified.

The PUSD administrative team is incredibly grateful to the Valley View community and will continue to provide support to help ensure the continuity of school operations."
