Volunteers “Adopt a Senior” for Christmas

200 Seniors in the Tri-Valley received gift bags and a visit for Christmas

Volunteers “Adopt a Senior” for Christmas

A group of 30 volunteers gathered at the CityServe office and assembled 200 gift bags for seniors in the Tri-Valley, filled with blankets, socks, note pads, flashlites, toiletries, and Christmas decorations, and a few goodies (trailmix, fruit snacks, no sweets, after all they are seniors).

For the past several years, community groups and volunteers have been putting together gifts for seniors. CityServe provided the names of the seniors and our volunteers went to work.

Many thanks to several community groups who helped with the project: The Pleasanton Community of Character provided shopping bags and pens. Volunteers and community members purchased gifts from the Amazon “Wishlist”, many thanks to Design Electric of Pleasanton who provided a nice donation to help with the gifts.

Several community, church and youth groups delivered the gift bags to the seniors. Global Leadership Initiatives for Youth (GLIFY), PLAY Leadership, Rise & Shine Youth Leadership, Boys Team Charity (Danville), YMSL of Pleasanton, Tri-Valley Christian Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all helped deliver. The AVHS and FHS JustServe Clubs made decorations to beautify the bags.

As we celebrate the Christmas season, let’s all remember our own seniors, our parents, grandparents, neighbors, and friends, they helped build our nation and created a legacy for us and our children. Visit them and bring cheer to their Christmas season.
