Volunteers Needed For Pleasanton Library’s Literacy Program

The Literacy Program provides all books and materials as well as training and ongoing support.

From the City of Pleasanton: Pleasanton Library’s Literacy Program needs patient, caring volunteer tutors to help adults practice and improve their English reading, writing, and conversation skills.

Volunteers work one-on-one with students, or lead small group conversation practice, citizenship test preparation, or book clubs.

The Literacy Program provides all books and materials as well as training and ongoing support.
The next training event will take place on Saturday, March 2, from 1- 4 p.m. in the Library meeting
room. No advance preparation is needed.

Volunteers:
 should be at least 18 years old, fluent in American English and familiar with American
culture.
 should be able to devote 1-2 hours weekly to a student for a minimum of 6 months.
 consent to a Live Scan fingerprint screening.
 can be innovative—and have fun!
